Trina Solar launches new generation of Vertex S and Vertex modules for rooftops, with a 30W power boost
Rectangular G12R silicon wafers are an upgrade to the 210mm technology platform
2022.05.11

Trina Solar Co., Ltd. ("Trina Solar" or the "Company"), a leading global PV and smart energy total solution provider, today announced the new generation of Vertex S and Vertex rooftop modules based on innovative G12R-210 cells. This represents another upgrade to the 210mm Vertex technology platform. In residential and C&I rooftop applications, the newly launched modules will provide an excellent product experience and outstanding investment returns.

The new members of the 210mm (G12) family feature cells based on a new generation of 210mm Vertex technology. Innovative 210mm rectangular silicon wafer (G12R) and cell technology is applied, resulting in higher efficiency and power compared to similar products on the market. Single-module power increases by up to 30W, with the power of Vertex S rising to 430W, and that of the current Vertex 550W product will increase to 580W.

As for conversion efficiency, the two upgraded modules’ efficiency is 0.2-0.3% higher, reaching up to 21.5%. They are widely applicable globally to meet local carbon emission reduction targets. Besides, the new products are perfectly compatible with a wide range of mainstream inverters and mounting systems.

The new product generation is suitable for all kinds of rooftops. With the new product generation, Trina Solar underlines its leadership in residential, commercial, and industrial rooftop application scenarios around the world, but also particularly in the European markets, delivering higher customer value.

Based on first-class product design, cutting-edge technology, and outstanding product value, Trina Solar's full-black Vertex S recently stood out among around 10,000 entered products in more than 60 countries, successfully earning the world's top design award, as the Red Dot Product Design Award winner 2022.

Installation capacity increases by up to 7%, more green energy

The Vertex S 430W and Vertex 580W modules offer exceptional system value. The new Vertex S generation can increase installation capacity on residential rooftops by 5–7%. A higher power generation meets higher requirements for daily household use and energy demand from electrical vehicles.

Due to higher string power on both residential and commercial rooftops, the cost of PV cables and mounting systems is lower, and installation time is shortened. Meanwhile, cost of transportation and storage is more competitive, realizing significant balance of system (BOS) savings for developers. On commercial rooftops, up to 2% of initial investment cost can be saved. Compared to 410W reference modules, every shipping container of can carry an additional 18.7kW Vertex S 430W product, for a load of up to 402kW, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

A future-proof technology

The 210mm rectangular silicon wafer (G12R) cell technology and superior module types launched in the industry for the first time by Trina Solar were developed based on p-type cell technology and design. However, the new technology is applicable not only to p-type cells, but also to all other new technologies such as high-efficiency n-type cells, expected to increase power by another 3–5%, offering forward-looking and extensive compatibility, further reducing payback time.

Trina Solar is officially rolling out full black Vertex S 425W+, Vertex S 430W+ and Vertex 580W+, three new upgraded products, at Intersolar Europe 2022 (May 11th-13th), booth A1.370. The rooftop portfolio is completed by the new Vertex S+ dual-glass modules with n-type cells, also on display at the trade fair.
